RiverRun is proud to partner with the Greensboro 48 Hour Film Project for an encore screening of this year’s local award-winning short films. The 48 Hour Film Project’s mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. It entails a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams of all ages, numbers and backgrounds create short films–write, shoot, edit and produce–in just 48 hours.

On Friday night, teams draw a film genre from a hat. They are all then assigned one character, prop and line of dialogue that must appear in every film. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop-off event, films are submitted – and teams celebrate! After much deliberation, a distinguished panel of judges selected this year’s winning films.

Awards were presented in late July in Greensboro, and we are partnering to present a Winston-Salem encore screening event.

Kudos to The Magic Shop for winning Best Film of 2017! The Magic Shop is a team comprised of MullenLowe staff, creators of the RiverRun website and annual Festival Preview clip reel. Their film Get Bent will go on to represent Greensboro against all the other city winners around the world at Filmapalooza 2018.
