We strive to minimize our impact on the environment and employ viable eco-friendly alternatives at every opportunity. Below are the steps RiverRun implemented in 2010 to ensure that our footprint was gentle, while also guaranteeing Festival-goers got the most out of Festival while doing good for the planet.
2010 environmental film sidebar
RiverRun featured four documentaries which explore some of the world’s more pressing environmental concerns, as well as highlight inspirational people who are making a difference.
Waste reduction and recycling
Water coolers were placed at all primary screening venues to eliminate use of one-time water bottles and cups. We encouragde Festival guests to bring a re-useable bottle to take advantage of this complimentary water or purchase one of RiverRun’s logoed stainless steel bottles for $10. At party venues, glassware was utilized rather than disposable plastic cups for the majority of beverages. Each screening venue was equipped with recycling receptacles for PET bottle and paper waste.
