To further uplift the work of Black, Indigenous, and other filmmakers of color, RiverRun is establishing the BIPOC Filmmaker Fellowship.

RiverRun International Film Festival believes in the power of diverse voices to build community through film. Through our festival and year-round programs, we are responsible for our audiences and the stories we tell. Representation matters and our aim is to ensure it’s reflected in all our programming – across genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ideological perspectives.

To further uplift the work of Black, Indigenous, and other filmmakers of color, RiverRun is establishing the BIPOC Filmmaker Fellowship.

The goals of the Fellowship are to:

  • Elevate emerging and mid-career BIPOC filmmakers by providing a platform for their projects and stories.
  • Create more space within our programming where all in our community are respected, heard, acknowledged, and exhibited.
  • The BIPOC Filmmaker Fellow will curate a program of 4-6 films to screen for free during the 2024 film festival and will receive $5,000 unrestricted cash for their work.
