Development Director:
The RiverRun International Film Festival seeks a Director of Development to raise funds for the organization and manage the development function. RiverRun is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and an Academy Award-qualifying festival in two categories. In addition to the annual film festival, the organization maintains an ambitious year-round program schedule and educational initiative. Specific duties of this position include:
DONORS:
Assist with identification of prospective individual donors
Meet with prospective donors to solicit gifts in support of annual fundraising goal
Generate mailing lists for solicitations and other mailings
Organize and manage donor benefits during the annual festival
Maintain donor database utilizing NEON
Generate reports on individual donations from NEON
Generate monthly lists for renewal letters
Prepare annual membership brochure
Issue receipts and thank you letters for donations
Prepare and issue tax substantiation letters by required deadline
SPONSORS:
Identify prospective sponsors for the festival and year-round programs
Meet with prospective and renewing sponsors to solicit sponsorships in support of annual fundraising goal
Arrange in-kind sponsorships in conjunction with Operations Manager
Prepare cash and in-kind sponsorship proposals and agreements and maintain signed copies of sponsorship agreements
Prepare annual sponsorship brochure
Organize and manage sponsor benefits during the annual festival
Maintain sponsorship database in NEON and generate reports on sponsorships from NEON
Coordinate advertisements from sponsors for newspaper insert, website, and film guide for annual festival
Issue receipts and thank you letters for donations
GRANTS:
Write all grant applications to government organizations and private
foundations and funders in support of annual fundraising goal
Prepare all reports required by grantmaking organizations and submit by required deadlines
Identify new grant opportunities
OTHER:
Represent RiverRun in the community and region and with organizations such as the Arts Council, etc.
Serve as liaison to accounting, auditing, marketing, and programming on
development matters and work with colleagues in these divisions
Assist with preparation of the Annual Report to donors and sponsors
Assist with social media posts
Ensure donor and sponsor data on website are correct
Other duties as assigned
Like most film festivals, RiverRun obtains 10 to 15% of the organization’s budget through ticket sales in a typical year, with the balance coming from individual donations, business sponsorships, and grants.
