When going through the hundreds of short documentary film submissions we received, a theme emerged, highlighting the incredible resilience of the human spirit even in the face of tragedy or difficulty. This documentary shorts block celebrates humanity and the need for us all to look at life with a new perspective.
After the Bomb
In an era where the violence of war often leaves victims forgotten, a woman whose life was devastated by a bomb in Northern Ireland joins with fellow victims and survivors to fight for restitution and acknowledgment from an unresponsive government. Amidst her fight, she finds new healing in a friendship based on shared need, where one walks and the other sees.

Aontas
Three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, rob a rural Irish credit union. Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, the story unravels backwards to track what went awry. What starts as a poorly executed robbery becomes a portrait of a willful woman trapped in her own past.
Éiru
Éiru is the smallest child in an Iron-Age clan. All she wants is to be a mighty warrior who is taken seriously by her kinfolk. But when the village’s well mysteriously dries up, only she is small enough to descend into the belly of the earth to investigate and bring the water of life back to her people.
