Art and Impact of Archival Research, The: A Conversation with Rosemary Rotondi & Monica Berra
Join our Master of Cinema honoree Rosemary Rotondi and our Spark Award honoree Monica Berra as they discuss their work in the world of documentary film archival research and producing.
Many of the most prominent documentaries in film history wouldn’t exist, or certainly wouldn’t be as powerful, without the incredible work of archival researchers. The documentaries our featured panelists have worked on, such as “Citizenfour”, “Inside Job”, and “A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks”, owe much of their impact to the deep archival work that shaped their narratives.
In this discussion, we will explore how these skilled storyteller-detectives navigate archival sources, negotiate access, and uncover the photos, footage, and documents that add nuance, richness, and depth to the documentary films they help create.
