In 2014, a Chinese billionaire opened a Fuyao factory a new factory in the husk of an abandoned General Motors plant in Dayton, OH, hiring two thousand blue-collar Americans. Early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America. At first, the culture clash is humorous, showing the many differences between the Americans and their Chinese counterparts. But tensions begin to mount when safety standards aren’t met and the Americans begin talking about creating a Union, something the Chinese will not abide. What results is an epic film that puts on display the future of American labor and Chinese economic dominance.
