Carpatia poetically profiles the people, places and lush landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains.  Lives of simplicity, isolation, poverty and hardships are revealed.  The film provides a unique glimpse into Old Europe and the former Soviet-bloc nations, where many still live a nineteenth-century lifestyle.  Starting a few miles east of Vienna, over the whole of Slovakia, Southern Poland, Ukraine, Romania and Hungary, the Carpathian Bow traces a 1,000 mile-long mountain chain.
