French doctor-turned-director Thomas Lilti previously impressed viewers with his depiction of the complex inner workings of a Parisian hospital in the 2015 RiverRun selection Hippocrates. This time, he’s decided to go in the opposite direction, medically speaking. For the past thirty years, Dr. Jean-Pierre Werner (François Cluzet) has been working as a general practitioner in the countryside, far away from any other medical facility. When he finds out that he suffers from a serious illness, Werner is left with no choice but to find a replacement, and takes on the very inexperienced Nathalie as an assistant. As his condition worsens and a proposed real estate development threatens to disrupt their carefully crafted network of care, both Nathalie and the patients they serve have a few surprises in store for him.
