Valentine Hermann is a young New York actor whose grandfather had a datsche, or summer garden house, just outside of Berlin. Val decides to spend a summer there, not knowing anything about gardening or local custom. Upon arriving, he encounters an unexpected houseguest and a nosy neighbor, both of whom bring unexpected drama and unexpected joy to his summer abroad. Taking on a handful of energetic and eclectic new friends in the process of bringing the datsche up to the community’s standards, his dream of a peaceful life in rural Germany is turned upside down in a most fun and transformative way.
