Erik Nietzsche, described in the beginning of the film as “basically an open and friendly person,” wants nothing else than to be a film director. After receiving numerous rejections, he accidentally gets accepted to the state-funded Danish National Film School. Upon arrival, he enters a hostile world of unhelpful, angry professors and competitive, angst-ridden fellow students. We follow Erik as he struggles to get his student films made, works on a major film set and attempts his final project, all the while becoming more cynical and conniving along the way.
