Subtly woven into the patchwork of a story about the band Big Smith and its Ozark roots are a series of commentaries on issues ranging from the destruction caused by urban sprawl to the importance and benefits of preserving family heritage.  Focusing on the band Big Smith–led by soulful front man Mark Bilyeu–and the extended family of each of the band members, the film explores what it means to be a hillbilly in today’s fast-paced Starbucks-soaked society.
