A young woman escapes an abusive boyfriend, only to land in a remote Bulgarian village where nine acerbic elders are growing marijuana to survive. Their primary client? The abusive boyfriend. Despite Mila’s outwardly exhibitionistic tendencies–she tends to be scantily clad, and her long legs are not a special effect–she herself is also concealing a deep secret. And who is that mysterious man living in the tower at the edge of town? This unconventional film by first-time director Zornitsa Sophia addresses “how and why you stop running away and start facing your life–and what love has to do with surviving.”
