Swim Team is a feature length documentary chronicling the debut season of the Jersey Hammerheads, a competitive swim team made up of children and teens on the autism spectrum. The film takes an in-depth look at the lives of several athletes on the team, who along with their coaches and families, grapple with the challenges of autism and strive for mainstream success in and out of the water.
For the boys and their families alike, success on this swim team holds the promise of success in life. This season is not only about winning gold medals, it’s about figuring out how to fashion a future of independence amidst the tremendous challenges that autism brings. Along the way they discover that swimming with the Hammerheads has empowered them in ways they never could have expected.
