Synopsis

Under small town scrutiny, a withdrawn farmer’s daughter forges an intimate friendship with a worldly but reckless new girl in 1960s Oklahoma. Actresses Liana Liberato and Kara Hayward, who many may remember from her debut role as Suzy in Wes Anderson’s 2012 feature Moonrise Kingdom, sparkle in their nuanced leading roles and are bolstered by supporting performances from veterans Malin Akerman, Tony Hale, Shea Whigham and Jordana Spiro. UNCSA School of Filmmaking alum Martha Stephens (Land Ho!, Pilgrim Song) returns to RiverRun with her quietly moving new feature, which recently premiered in the US Dramatic Competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
