Marriage is the only option for Tuya, a young Mongolian shepherdess, to save her family from poverty. Even though she is in love with her husband, Tuya must find another companion who can actually help her around the farm, which is a real necessity in this harsh environment where every family member has a specific role to fulfill. Although the movie is about a compelling love story, it is also a documentary of sorts. The director films in and around the secret corners of the yurts, capturing the intricate gestures of daily life in the Mongolian desert.
