holiday screening - how the grinch stole christmas - dec. 13
Join the RiverRun International Film Festival and Marketplace Cinemas for the fourth annual Can Film Festival with a 25th Anniversary screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
We are excited to screen this Ron Howard directed, live-action adaptation, of the beloved children’s tale by Dr. Seuss. The film follows the reclusive Grinch (Jim Carrey) who decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Reluctantly joined by his hapless dog, Max, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything holiday-related from the Whos. However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the endearing Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen). The film was released twenty-five years ago and won the Academy Award for Best Makeup in 2001.
ADMISSION TO SCREENING: In exchange for a minimum donation of two items of food per person for Samaritan Ministries, RiverRun will buy your movie ticket(s) to this special Holiday screening.
Samaritan Ministries needs non-perishable food items like canned goods, rice, pasta, and cereal. Specific items in high demand are often canned meats, stews, fruits, and vegetables, as well as pasta, sauces, instant mashed potatoes, and peanut butter.
