To kick off the new year of Indie Lens Pop-Up screenings, RiverRun and PBS North Carolina will virtually present Missing in Brooks County on Tuesday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. The film was a part of our 2021 Festival and was awarded the Human Rights Award for Documentaries by our jurors.

Missing in Brooks County is the portrait of a town in Brooks County, Texas that finds itself at the epicenter of a growing humanitarian crisis. Two families search for their loved ones who went missing in the fields of Brooks County, Texas after crossing from Mexico and find a sobering truth: the deadliest part of the journey is far from the border.

The hour-long film excerpt will be followed by a panel discussion featuring local advocates and experts in immigration and immigration services. You are encouraged be a part of the conversation by asking questions and posting comments via the virtual chat.
