Beginning on Friday, April 24, we will be offering our popular selection of North Carolina Shorts—short works directed by supremely talented filmmakers working here in our own state—free online for two weeks. During this two week period, many of the shorts filmmakers (several of whom are based right here in Winston-Salem and Greensboro!) will also be offering additional bonus content through RiverRun’s social media channels, to provide further context for the films. The films will be available in two blocks – NC Shorts 1, a collection of documentary films, and NC Shorts 2, which is comprised of narrative and animated work. They will be available to view at the following links:

We’re especially pleased to be sharing this year’s shorts as 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the North Carolina Film Office, founded in 1980 by Governor James B. Hunt. The office was commissioned to help facilitate and provide a base of operation for North Carolina’s burgeoning film industry. That industry has grown incredibly over the years, and we are thrilled to honor that by offering these North Carolina Shorts to our viewers during these times of in-home entertainment.

Both North Carolina Shorts blocks are generously sponsored by Nelson Mullins.
