The next installment in our Indie Lens Pop-up series of free community screenings is fast approaching! The film is The First Rainbow Coalition, and will be shown twice in the area. The first screening will be Thursday, November 14 at the Yadkinville Arts Council’s lovely Willingham Theater, with a 7:00 pm start time. A second screening will be presented in downtown Winston-Salem on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the newly renovated Forsyth County Central Public Library, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  As usual both screenings will be followed by a panel discussion with very special guests from the community. No tickets or reservations are required.

Film synopsis: In 1969, the Chicago Black Panther Party began to form a multi-ethnic coalition with the Young Lords Organization and the Young Patriots. Banding together in one of the most segregated cities in post-war America, the Rainbow Coalition changed the face of 1960s Chicago politics and created an organizing model for future activists and politicians.
