Congratulations to the following Riverrun Alumni!
Documentary Short: THE DEVIL IS BUSY
The film follows Traci, the head of security at a women’s healthcare clinic in Atlanta, over the course of a single day. As new legal restrictions and constant protests surround the clinic, Tracii works to protect the safety of the patients and staff. Directors: Christalyn Hampton, Geeta Gandbhir. The film is available to watch via HBO Max!
Oscar nominated Alumni Geeta Ganbhir is the Co-Director on for The Devil Is Busy! As Co-Director of last year’s RiverRun Best Documentary Short Jury Award winner—an honor that qualified the film for Academy Award consideration—Geeta continues to demonstrate the power and urgency of her storytelling. We’re especially proud of her longstanding relationship with RiverRun, having screened four remarkable films with us over the years: Prison Dogs, A Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers, Call Center Blues, and now The Devil Is Busy. It was a pleasure to welcome producer Rose Arce to RiverRun in 2025 and to celebrate this incredible milestone together.
Animated Short: PAPILLON (BUTTERFLY)
In the sea, a man swims. As he does, memories come to the surface. From his early childhood to his life as a man, all his memories are linked to water. Some are happy, some glorious, some traumatic. Director: Florence Miailhe
Animated Short: RETIREMENT PLAN
Short animated film commissioned by Screen Ireland and RTÉ, RETIREMENT PLAN tells the story of Ray (Domhnall Gleeson) as he fantasises about everything he’d love to do in retirement, once he finally has the “time.” Director: John Kelly.
We’ll be cheering for these talented filmmakers on Oscar night, March 15!
